The National Association of Cosmetology & Medical Hair Professionals or NACMHP provides a means for collaboration between cosmetologist and dermatology/medical experts working together as professionals to eliminate the hair loss epidemic silently impacting thousands of women leading to scalp inflammation, irritation, discomfort & permanent baldness.
The goal is to be able to recognize and identify hair loss conditions as early as possible starting in the hair salon to get the clients the knowledge and understanding that they need for the best treatment approach possible.
Dermatologist Dr. Seymour Weaver, III is the founder and during his 40+ years career has helped thousands of women and men with concerns about hair loss & thinning take the right steps to getting evaluated for their concerns to get the best care possible and minimize sorrow, pain, and anxiety.
Dr. Seymour Weaver’s journey to conceptualize this association was sparked by a resounding need for unity. Drawing from a wealth of experience, he emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between cosmetologists and medical experts. He was born in and grew up in Houston, Texas.
He attended college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in upstate New York and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine.
After completing a medical internship at Los Angeles County/USC medical center he went on to Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Center for his three year dermatology residency at a U.C.L.A. affiliated program.
During his time in training he traveled to Kenya to spend a month studying tropical dermatology and diseases at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Dr. Weaver has been specifically recognized for his expertise in dermatology, treating hair loss and scalp disorders, laser procedures with capabilities to treat skin of every color. He has been featured many times on local television as well as nationally and other media including being quoted in Oprah Magazine.
Dr. Weaver has treated thousands of patients for hair loss over the years and is the author of Dr. Weaver’s Black Hair Loss Guide: How to Stop Thinning Hair and Prevent Permanent Baldness, which is America’s number one guide about Hair Loss in African Americans.
Dr. Weaver is also the author of the guidebook Dr. Weaver’s Medical Handbook for the Hair Care Professional: Medical Tips for the Health Conscious Stylist and Barber.
As a hair loss educator, he wants all cosmetology and medical experts with an interest in hair loss to collaborate and work together to support this cause to stop hair loss and get the hair growing again.
